El-Touni | A Designer's Dream
A Design Retrospective exhibition opened at the Sharjah Art Gallery, featuring original illustrations, designs, sketches and cartoons by Helmi el-Touni, one of the veterans of Arab graphic design. Organized by the graphic design major, part of the Visual Cultures program at the Department of the Arts, the exhibition is the first in a series of projects that aim to trace the development of design in the Arab world.

Mariam Ibrahim '19 Designs Hospital Gowns to Track Patient Health, Featured on CNN
Mariam Ibrahim '19, a graphic design graduate, was featured on CNN and at the Global Grad Show in Dubai for her project Hale, a series of hospital garments designed to improve a patient's sense of well-being. Made with antibacterial materials, the gowns use sensors to track a patient's temperature, blood pressure, oxygen and other vital signs.

Alumna Wins Harvard Intellectual Contribution Award
Dalia Abbas '13, political science graduate, earned her Master's in Education (EdM) — Technology, Innovation, and Education — from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She received the Harvard Intellectual Contribution Award, which honors students "whose dedication to scholarship enhanced the academic life of the community and positively impacted their fellow students" at Harvard.

Haifaa Al-Mansour ’97 Saudi Arabia’s firm female filmmaker is making big waves regionally and internationally
Haifa al-Mansour, an alumna of AUC, a graduate of ECLT, and first female Saudi film director, is showing her new film, The Perfect Candidate in Venice Film Festival this summer. It is a tale of a woman tackling gender-based obstacles. The movie is one of only two female directors in the 21-strong competition lineup at the Venice Film Festival.

Nesma Mahgoub ’13 A Successful Journey
Nesma Mahgoub '13 was named Best Female Youth Singer by the Middle East Music Awards. Journalism major Mahgoub, who started singing at the age of 10, is currently directing the AUC Pop Ensemble, which performs a range of genres including pop, rock, and gospel.

Forbes Names Alumnae Among Region's Most Influential Women of 2018
Working in diverse fields, from banking and trade to business management and telecommunications, 13 AUC alumnae are named by Forbes Middle East among The Middle East's Most Influential Women of 2018. Focusing on women in executive business and finance positions, as well as women in government departments, this annual list considers the title, scope and impact of the women's work, as well as the revenues of the companies they lead.

Mostafa Kandil '15 Achieves Largest Round of Venture Capital Funding in Egypt
Mostafa Kandil '15, co-founder and CEO of Swvl, a mobile app that organizes convenient transportation routes around Egypt at reasonable prices, was recently featured in Forbes Middle East commenting on the $8 million the company raised in its first round of venture capital financing.
