The Study of History
Elizabeth Kennedy, Visiting Professor in the Department of History, tells us the study of History is about trying to understand the past and why it happened the way it did.
Programs

History: BA
The history program covers a range of topics and regions, and allows students the flexibility to pursue their own interests. All courses develop in students an appreciation of the richness, complexity, and diversity of past civilizations, allowing them to examine the human experience in its fullest dimensions.
The program gives students historical, academic, and personal competencies, develops intellectual sophistication, and provides a solid foundation for a wide variety of careers, from law or diplomacy to journalism or business.

Comparative Religion Minor
The minor in Comparative Religion is designed to allow students with an interest in religious studies to pursue their research by choosing from a selection of courses on various aspects of the subject both past and present.

History Minor
The program as a whole gives students appropriate historical, academic, and personal competencies, develops their intellectual sophistication, and provides a solid foundation for their future lives, preparing them for a wide variety of subsequent careers, from law or diplomacy to journalism or business.
